A warranty for TRUECORE® steel is an important step in ensuring that both you and your customers have confidence in your framing material, along with the assurance that BlueScope supports and backs its products once installed.
In most instances, you can apply for a pre-approved warranty before construction begins, or you can apply for the warranty on behalf of your customer once the build is complete.
What warranties are available?
BlueScope offers the following residential warranties* for eligible applicants.
A warranty of up to 50 years may be available for the entire house frame in detached homes, townhouses and duplexes.
A warranty of up to 25 years may also be available for structural subsystems such as roof truss only, intermediate floors only or wall frames.
Commercial warranties of up to 25 years for multi-residential and other non-residential buildings may be available upon application*.
Warranties may be available for calm marine environments (> 5m from high water mark), such as canal estates and estuaries. However, BlueScope does not provide a warranty for frames and trusses made from TRUECORE® steel when installed within 300m of surf or exposed marine influences
Looking to apply for warranty on behalf of a customer
Before applying for a TRUECORE® steel warranty on behalf of your customer, please consider the following information
You can only apply for a warranty on behalf of a customer if you are planning to install the product within the next 18 months
You'll need to have important details handy. When starting a warranty application, you’ll need to have your customer’s details on hand.
Once you successfully complete your part of the application process, an activation code will be generated and shared with both you and your customer. They can then use this code to finalise the warranty and assign ownership to themselves.

TRUECORE® steel is made to all relevant Australian Standards and is tested for quality and consistency throughout its production. It’s this quality assurance that supports BlueScope in providing a reassuring 50-year warranty for eligible applicants.
TRUECORE® steel is marked with the relevant Standard, strength grade of steel, BMT (base metal thickness), coating class and includes a unique identifier to ensure our steel is fully traceable. Test certificates can be made available upon request.
Frequently asked questions
Is a frame made from TRUECORE® steel durable?
Frames made from TRUECORE® steel are durable and designed for long life performance. The steel is protected by BlueScope’s industry leading aluminium/zinc/magnesium alloy coating with Activate® technology, which provides enhanced corrosion resistance. This patented technology has been thoroughly tested and is proven effective across various environments and building applications. Where there are cut edges from drilling or cutting operations, the galvanic action of the coating helps protect the exposed steel edge against corrosion.
Is there initial or ongoing movement of steel frames?
There will be no initial shrinkage or swelling of a frame made from TRUECORE® steel as there is no absorption or drying of moisture in steel frames. Steel frames will not shrink, twist, or warp over time so there's less chance of sticking doors, window jambs, nail pops, and uneven roof lines due to frame movement.

BlueScope offers a reassuring 50-year TRUECORE® steel warranty covering the entire frame for eligible residential applications. For structural subsystems, such as roof trusses, intermediate floors, or wall frames only, a 25-year warranty is available.
