The Block 2019 Case Study: Skylights

October 31st, 2019

Early on this season of The Block, lead architect, Julian Brenchley was concerned that not enough light was going to get down to the lower levels of the townhouses, where all of the main kitchens are located. Working with together with VELUX® Australia, this void was subsequently increased to a massive 2.4m x 4m in several of the houses. A team of seasoned suppliers and partners were then engaged to create an Australian-first building innovation - creating architectural skylight modules using framing made from TRUECORE® steel.

A total of 32 VELUX® skylights were included across four modules that were built using framing made from TRUECORE® steel. It was a real team effort says VELUX® Australia’s Mr Cussigh, “Everyone was working together, whether it was the guys over at Dynamic Steel Frame, Peter Elliott Roofing or Site Manager, Aidan O’Shannessy. Everyone just worked with each other to get the project done."
