Impressive uses of TRUECORE® steel on The Block

High-end finishes that stand the test of time
Winning rooms on The Block are finished to an amazingly high standard and one of the secrets to the success of contestants in recent years has been the use of TRUECORE® steel for the house frames. In this video, we hear how using framing made from TRUECORE® steel helps to not only deliver the incredible precision that enables high-end finishes of Venetian plaster for example, but also how it helps ensure that the finishes stand the test of time, and aren’t subject to the warping, twisting and bowing that can occur with organic framing materials.

Soaring ceilings and open plan living
TRUECORE® steel’s impressive strength to weight ratio makes it possible to deliver wide open rooms and soaring ceilings without the challenges associated with traditional materials. In this video, Peter Blythe, managing director of Dynamic Steel Framing talks about how TRUECORE® steel facilitated the standout finish in 2023 series’ House 4’s master bedroom. Not just delivering an outstanding finish, but also making it easier for the installers too.

Precise
Framing made from TRUECORE® steel offers a level of precision that’s hard to beat. And this precision is essential to delivering design features that run the whole length of a room! The Block 2023 showcased an emerging trend with curves in the building design and one of the most memorable elements was the coved ceiling in House 2. In this video you can see how it came together and how the versatility of TRUECORE® steel helped to achieve the amazing end result.

Stand-out street appeal that starts on a computer screen
The curves that defined the 2023 Block were everywhere – from ceilings to wall details, aircon soffits to archways and in one case, creating the amazing external façade shape that defined the whole house ‘look’ from the street. And all this was made possible by the design and engineering process that makes TRUECORE® steel the versatile framing solution that it is. Designs are visualised and detailed on a computer and this then drives the fabrication machine to generate all the pieces of TRUECORE® steel that are needed to generate the design. It’s incredibly efficient, accurate and versatile, as these homes so clearly show!

Making it easier to build in tight spaces – granny flats
Another advantage of TRUECORE® steel is the ability to prefabricate offsite and being light-weight, how easy it is to lift into place for assembly – both crucially important when working in the kinds of tight spaces that are often encountered when building granny flats and studios in the backyard.

Straight, true and fast to install – even over 2 stories
When you’re building over two stories, the fact that TRUECORE® steel goes up straight and true really comes into its own – delivering long, clean modern lines inside and out. TRUECORE® steel’s strength to weight ratio has a positive impact too, reducing the load-bearing requirement of the ground level structure and making it easier to install. And of course, being able to be prefabricated offsite makes for a fast build on site – delivering exactly to the original designer’s intent.
